May 7th 2007 Engaged

I never would have believed it but I’m now officially engaged. Yesterday at 2:30 PM I asked Gina to marry me. The good news is she said yes. Well, good news for me. The downside is now she’s stuck with me. :-)

I bought the ring at Alana Antique and Estate Jewelry. It is really cute there. They have all sorts of antique jewelry and old items. They were really nice and I would easily go back again. That really sounded like an ad.

Photos of the ring

I didn’t quite know how I wanted to propose but I knew I wanted to use Porter. I ended up having the ring (in the box) tied around his neck and porter came walking out of the garage to meet Gina outside of my Mother’s house. She had no idea what was going on and only saw the string. I picked it up/ removed it from Porter and opened the box and asked her to marry me. She was speechless and hugged me. I think she started crying too.

I haven’t seen her that happy in… well, ever, It was a great feeling to see her that happy and to also know that I at some point in the near future will be wedded to her.

May 5th 2007 Bulldog Meetup

Great day for the dog park. It was the May Meetup for the Greater Seattle English Bulldog Meetup Group. This month is was held at Marymoor Park in Redmond. The weather was great for the dogs as it was not to warm out and not terribly cold. We had a special Cinco De Mayo celebration for the dogs. Notice their great yellow Sombreros!

There ended up being around 30-40 bulldogs. About 6 puppies with the youngest being 8 weeks and a few months old.

Katie had three litter mates from Stella show up and they were very cute. She did a good job with the breeding.

Porter was being an absolute pain in the ass. He had to go on his leash after about 30 minutes. He then proceeded to snap at any dog that came close. He doesn’t ever behave like this.

Shannon stopped by with Gunner who decided to put a hole in some dogs cheek. Gunner is a great dog so this really was not a big deal. It was a sniff gone bad as she put it. :-)

Paul brought Bandit who also got in to a tussle. Bandit got the short end of the stick as he got a nip in his tongue and some lady drop kicked him. She said it was a reflex and that she was protecting her dog. We were in a mildly controlled environment so she had no right to kick Bandit as there was no threat to her or her bully. There were lots of little scraps too but nothing that isn’t typical when this many dogs get together. Overall It looked like a fun day for the dogs in the typical Meetup fashion.

I can’t wait to go to the Meetup for June!

May 4th 2007 Sick :(

I was fortunate enough today that I didn’t have to go to work. I told my manager yesterday that I’m staying home sick. It’s a shame that I actually am home sick. I would much rather be out playing hookie. It was a nice change of pace to sleep for 11 hours. I feel much more rested then I have in a long time. I think I could even squeeze a few more hours in later.

My parts from New Egg should be arriving later today. I don’t know what time though. I would like to run down to South Center as well and pick up the remaining parts but I don’t know if I’m exactly up for that.

I spent the better port of the morning (besides laying in bed) looking for clients that would integrate with Flickr. So far I found Gnickr!, Glimmr, jUploader, Flock, and a few ,Firefox plugins.

Over all I really liked jUploader but it messes with my Java settings. I can use it but I have to reconfigure my Java in a way that it breaks iriverter. I can switch my java back to fix this but then jUploader doesn’t work. It’s not that this is hard but it is very inconvenient. I also installed the FotoFox plugin for firefox so I can send images to Flickr through the browser.

We’ll have to see how this integration works in the long run……

May 1st 2007 Uggg

Today was great! We had to deal with the fallout from end of month booking. It’s not that there was a lot to do but rather a lot to follow up with. I ended up only sleeping for 4 hours again. This has got to end. I’m so tired of not sleeping!

On a positive note; My case for the mini-itx based Linux Firewall came in. So I was able to piece together the new case. All I have left to do is put in the new hard drive from New Egg and a rear I/O shield and I’ll be set. The case looks great next to my cable modem.

Gina came home last night at midnight. It was great having her back. I really did miss her. We went out with some ex-coworkers of hers for dinner at The Ram. I always enjoy it there and I really love their Home made beer. It was ashame that I’m not feeling so well and I couldn’t partake in such tasty goodness. There’s always next time.
